About Us

GENTLE HANI

I draw gentle animal friends no humans allowed.

Humans always talk too much when I draw them.

Such a demanding species, really.

Hani was my dog — gentle by nature and,

I must say, quite a pretty Shih Tzu.

The name Gentle Hani carries a double meaning.

It’s my gentle Hani, the dog I loved.

But in Korean, “젠틀하니?”

also sounds like asking, “Are you gentle?”

So, are you?

I hope the world fills up with more gentle friends

— humans included.

To express the gentle nature,

the main character Hani wears a gat

(a traditional Korean hat) and hanbok.

In old Korea, during the Joseon era,

Seonbi were seen as the true image of gentleness,

kind, and thoughtful.
